Thane, Maharashtra:

In a late-night operation that shocked the city, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of Thane Police seized 1.106 kg of charas (hashish) worth approximately ₹1,10,80,420 from the Shilphata area along the Mumbai–Pune Highway on September 14.

Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap near the new construction site of Havare City, close to the Shilphata-Mumbra route. During the swift action, officers arrested Masud Bahuddin Ainarkar (29), a driver from Dapoli, and recovered the contraband along with related materials.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ainarkar was allegedly carrying the narcotics for sale. Police suspect that the seized drugs may have been smuggled from abroad, pointing to a possible international drug trafficking network. Authorities are probing the source of the consignment and the individuals involved in the operation.

A case has been registered at the Shil-Dighar Police Station under NDPS Act Sections 8(c) and 20(b). Ainarkar has been remanded to police custody until September 23 for further interrogation.

This high-stakes operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Amarsingh Jadhav and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravindra Daundkar, led by Senior Inspector Rahul Maske and the Anti-Narcotics Squad, including officers Somnath Karnavar Patil, Nilesh More, and Rajendra Nikam.
