Rapid Response : Vartak Nagar Police Apprehend Gang Rape Suspects in Record Time

Thane, Maharashtra Mirror-Viivek Rajendra Jagtap 8 May 2025

In a rapid and decisive move, the Vartak Nagar Police have arrested two individuals, Siraj Chaudhary and Yash Tiwari, in connection with a disturbing gang rape case involving a 26-year-old woman. The arrests occurred within just four hours of the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Vartak Nagar Police Station, demonstrating the department’s commitment to swift justice in the face of serious crimes.

The incident unfolded at a private party held at Hilltop Villas in Yeoor Hills, Thane, where the victim was allegedly assaulted. While attending the gathering, the victim’s friend was also reportedly molested, highlighting the grim reality of sexual violence that often accompanies such events.

Under the expert oversight of DCP Zone 5, Prashant Kadam, the police mobilized quickly, with Senior Police Inspector Rajkumar Waghchoure coordinating a dedicated team. This effort was led by Police Sub-Inspector Deva Chintamani and included PSI Pallavi Kokate and Police Constable Jadhav. Utilizing immediate intelligence and surveillance, the team tracked down the accused in Navi Mumbai and apprehended them without delay.

“The rapid response by our team reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting the community and ensuring that justice is served promptly,” said DCP Kadam in a statement. “Every victim of crime deserves to see their case treated with urgency and seriousness.”

Siraj Chaudhary, identified as the primary suspect, is not a stranger to criminal activities. He serves as the editor of Maharashtra Crimes, a weekly newspaper, and has a history of multiple extortion charges against him for allegedly soliciting money from spa and orchestra bar owners across Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. This alarming background raises concerns about the culture of impunity that can sometimes accompany positions of influence in society.

The police are expected to present both accused before the Hon’ble Court this afternoon, seeking police custody to further investigate the case. “We urge other victims to come forward and report crimes without fear,” added Kadam. “The police are here to support you, and we will take every allegation seriously.”

While the swift arrest provides a glimmer of hope for justice, it also ignites a broader conversation about the prevalence of sexual violence at social gatherings and the urgent need for cultural and systemic change to protect victims. Sexual violence remains a pervasive issue that affects countless individuals, emphasizing the importance of awareness, education, and intervention.

As legal proceedings commence, the Vartak Nagar Police remain committed to investigating the full extent of the crime and ensuring that all responsible parties are held accountable. The arrests mark a pivotal step in restoring public confidence in law enforcement’s ability to address and mitigate violent offenses.

In conclusion, while the arrest of Chaudhary and Tiwari is a necessary stride towards justice for the victims, it also amplifies the call for a more profound societal shift to combat sexual violence. The community is urged to support victims and foster an environment where such crimes are met with zero tolerance. Authorities maintain that justice will prevail, and perpetrators will be brought to account.
