Mumbai Illegal Construction : Another alarming example of poorly managed development work has emerged in Mumbai. During ongoing bridge construction on the Mulund–Goregaon Link Road, a piece of iron reportedly fell directly onto a car in the absence of proper safety arrangements. While a major accident was narrowly avoided, the vehicle suffered significant damage. The incident has triggered strong public anger over the alleged negligence of contractors.

⚠️ No Barricades, No Safety — Iron Debris Falls Directly on Vehicle
Dhanesh Baburam Yadav (31) from Bhandup West was returning with friends through the Mulund area on the night of 14 February 2025 when an iron component from ongoing bridge work near Pillar No. 28 allegedly fell onto his Fortuner car.
Shockingly, the site reportedly had:
No barricades,
No warning signage,
No safety personnel,
while the road remained open to traffic.
🚧 Work Ongoing — But Who Is Responsible?
According to workers present at the site, employees of S.P.S. Construction Company were carrying out the work.
The complainant has alleged that an iron ladder being moved broke loose and fell onto the car.
⚖️ Police Complaint Filed — Demand for Action Against Negligence
Following the incident, Dhanesh Yadav filed a police complaint against the contractor and workers involved.
Expressing concern, he questioned:
“If someone had lost their life due to this negligence, who would have been held responsible?”
🔥 Development or Risk to Public Safety?
This incident once again raises serious concerns about development projects in Mumbai, highlighting:
➡️ Poor adherence to safety norms
➡️ Arbitrary functioning of contractors
➡️ Administrative negligence
These factors continue to put citizens’ lives at risk.
The big question now remains — will strict action be taken against negligent contractors, or will this case also be quietly buried?
