Navi Mumbai | 26 September 2025 – In a powerful show of force under the “Nasha Mukt Navi Mumbai” (Drug-Free Navi Mumbai) campaign, Navi Mumbai Police today destroyed a staggering ₹26.48 crore worth of narcotics, sending a clear warning to drug traffickers. The seized contraband—collected from 35 registered cases—was incinerated at the government-approved Waste Management Centre in Taloja MIDC in the presence of key dignitaries including MLA Mandatai Mhatre, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Yenpure, and Additional Commissioner of Police Deepak Sakore. This high-profile action marks the second phase of the crackdown. Earlier, drugs worth ₹11.61 crore from 79 cases had already been destroyed.
Three-Year Crackdown: Key Figures (2023–2025)
1,831 cases registered and 2,854 accused arrested.
₹70.18 crore worth of narcotics seized in total.
101 African nationals caught with drugs worth ₹40 crore.
2,034 African nationals deported, with 989 blacklisted.
Action Against Major Kingpins
Police have invoked the stringent MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) against seven high-level traffickers, while three more proposals have been submitted for preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.
Public Awareness & Helpline
The campaign, spearheaded by Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe since 8 January 2025, also includes widespread awareness drives in schools, colleges, and housing societies, featuring banners and hoardings that highlight the dangers of drug abuse.
Citizens with information on narcotics can call the confidential helpline: 8828 112 112, with police assuring complete anonymity for informants.
