Allegations against encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma have been proved. Bombay High Court has sentenced Pradeep Sharma to life imprisonment. The Bombay High Court on Tuesday decided on several petitions related to the 2006 Lakhan Bhaiya encounter case. A bench of Justices Revathi Mohite-Dere and Gauri Godse reserved judgment on 8 November 2023 on hearing 16 appeals filed in 2006. Pradeep Sharma News |
The Lakhan Bhaiya encounter in 2006 was investigated. Later, the SIT investigation revealed that the encounter was fake. Lakhan Bhaiya (33, Res. Vasai), real name Ram Narayan Gupta, was booked under the Gangster Act. On November 11, 2006, a team of Mumbai Police detained him as a suspected member of the Chhota Rajan gang. Later that evening, Lakhan Bhaiyya was killed in an encounter at Versova in West Mumbai. This alleged fake encounter was led by former Pradeep Sharma.
Pradeep Sharma was an officer in the Special Branch of the Mumbai Police. He was known as an encounter specialist. He has a record of more than 100 matches to his name. He joined the police service in 1983 and took voluntary retirement in 2019. After that he entered politics.
